Measure your dog nose to base of tail while they are lying stretched out, then add a few centimetres. Most dogs sleep stretched rather than curled, so if yours falls between two sizes, size up. Small suits terriers, dachshunds and French bulldogs. Medium suits cocker spaniels, border collies and staffies. Large suits labradors, retrievers and German shepherds.
That is what the two layers are for. The memory foam takes pressure off sore hips, elbows and shoulders, and the firm base stops your dog sinking to the floor. A firm base also makes it easier for a stiff dog to push themselves up, which a soft bed does not.
The cover zips off completely and goes in the machine. The zip sits in a hidden pocket rather than exposed along the seam, which removes the obvious thing for a dog to chew.
